How many posthumous Jimi Hendrix albums will eventually be released!?
“West Coast Seattle Boy: The Jimi Hendrix Anthology” was released this week with 61 previously unreleased studio and live recordings (4 CD’s) along with a documentary DVD based on his life and career.
BQ1 – Are you interested enough to buy it for yourself or maybe as a Christmas present?
BQ2 – How many posthumous releases are too many?
BQ3 – Besides Elvis and Jimi, what other artist has many posthumous releases.
Edit: AtS- Abraxas, All Along the Watchtower isn’t on this new release, Lol.
There is some debate as to whether “Rainbow Bridge” should be classed as a “posthumous Album” as it was ready for release, and approved by Jimi, prior to his death. “War Heroes” was awful, but for the life of me I cannot understand why the 4 CD Box Set “Stages” is now N/A- the best Album I have in my collection. Even if they split it to 4 separate CDs…….

BQ: How many more versions of, say, “All along the Watchtower” do I need? No way, and he is my all time #1 by a mile.
BQ2: Depends on how much good material that was unreleased at the time of death. However, it raises the question “if it was good enough to be released on the first posthumous Album, why is it now being released on the 9th?”
BQ3: I would guess Frank Zappa- 25 in total.
